A Good Slip Into 2009

Model: Kiara

The year 2008 has almost come to a close.
It has been a busy year with lots of changes, challenges, good and less good things.

I just want to say "Thank You" for the support given, for your thoughts and feedback and for your visits at my public shows and my websites. I wish you a "good slip" into the new year 2009 and all the best for you and the ones you love.

Take care.

Just Like The Ones That You Once Knew

Model: Amber Gangi

day is the thief that you don't have the courage to track down,
who forces himself into all of the rooms of your home,
he comes to your garden,
your secrets
- he's quiet.
he steals all the answers
and leaves all the questions alone,
and you know there'll be days...

just like the ones that you once knew...

dedicated to a friend :-)

The Stranger In The Mirror That I See

the last time I saw jesus
I was drinking bloody mary's in the south
in a barroom in new orleans
rinsing out the bad taste in my mouth

the last highway is only
as far away as you are from yourself
and no matter just how bad it gets
it does no good to blame somebody else...

Twelve Shots - A Retrospective Excerpt for 2008

All the gold which is under or upon the earth
is not enough to give in exchange for virtue.
(Plato)

Like every year, the holiday season is the best time to recapitulate the things and happenings of the almost passed year. Doing that as a photographer, you find out that there are many shots which last in your mind, whether because the shooting was special or the shots came out much better than expected.

I had the fortune and pleasure to join very special venues and shootings and the occasion to exhibit my work in well visited galleries. The amount of feedback and interest I've got was really unexpected and overwhelming. At this point, many thanks to all who have supported me.

With this post I'd like to present you a brief outtake from my year 2008 work, which has received big audience and will be part of my next print media projects.

The Bluest Blues - The Story Behind

Model: Amber Gangi

... It's the bluest blues I'm feeling,
and it's here to stay
It's the bluest blues,
when you can't find your way home

The inspiration for “The bluest blues” series was born on an evening when I was listening to Alvin Lee’s song, The Bluest Blues.

I love this song and the lyrics inspired me to the shots I have taken, to express my feelings and give the song a kind of visual lyrics.

Model: Madame Bink

As for the presentation, I used the “VT-Style” to implement and accentuate the mood, the blue hues for the masculine, the gold/copper tones for the preciousness, yet the treasure a man has when he loves a woman, the structure for the highs and lows in one’s life.

The nostalgic feeling is another element I have added, to accentuate that love is something which lasts forever, no matter what we love.

And for all that I have added flora as an element of life, the growing and developing life, with its delicateness and beauty when it starts and the maturity we achieve in our life.
It has to do with the stages in our life, with birth, growing up, love, sex and passing away… What else can describe the stages better as a floral element?

Model: Xaina

The series comprises 50 images, sized at 120 x 120 cm (4ft. x 4ft.) and it's printed on special film which is applied to an aluminum plate. 12 of those images are available for online viewing, the other 38 only at my exhibitions.

The Comfort of Strangers

... it's the comfort of strangers,
some of those are like best friends,
ones that keep you coming round again...

Hello everyone,

with the first post here on this blog, I thought that I start with one of my favourite shots I have taken in October 2008.

I had the idea of a series processed like early photography, kind of "victorian" style with "modern artistic pose". The "fill the frame" concept was chosen to accentuate the pose and guide the viewer to the continuous lines and shapes created by the light set-up.

The series comprises 3 images, each 20"x 20" and printed on Kodak Endura Metallic paper.

The featuring model is Kat Love, which I had the pleasure to shoot with during her visit in Germany.

Well, that's all for my first post here :-) I'm not that big writer, but I hope on some conversations and perhaps the ice will melt.

Thanks for stopping by and have a nice holiday season.
Merry X-Mas.

Cheers,
Vernon Trent
